Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Tomrade handles, where it goes, and what you can do about it. It covers the Tomrade desktop app, your Tomrade account and its online services, and the website at tomrade.com.

Tomrade is made by Haoyuan Tang, an individual developer in Victoria, Australia (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the personal information described here. Contact us at support@tomrade.com.

The short version

1. What we collect

Your account

What your account syncs

None of this includes the contents of your projects.

Community plugins

Update checks

Unless you turn automatic checks off (Settings › About), the app asks download.tomrade.com for the latest version when it starts and then once an hour. Each request includes:

A check carries no ID for your installation and nothing linked to your account.

Usage statistics

Unless you turn them off, the app sends us anonymous usage statistics, to learn which features are useful and how much they are used:

They never include project or ticket names or contents, notes, conversations, prompts, code, file names, paths, search terms or settings values, and no email, account ID or hardware fingerprint. Our provider necessarily receives your IP address to deliver each request; the statistics database keeps only the broad region. Turn them off in Settings › Data & privacy › Anonymous usage statistics: collection and sending stop, unsent events are cleared and the local secret is deleted.

Reports you send from the app

When you send a report from the Troubleshooter, or feedback or an idea from the app, it reaches us through your account. It holds what the app shows you before you send it: the app version, your system and language, the checks and errors, recent log lines, and your note. The conversation that went wrong is included only if you tick it.

Emails and messages

2. What stays on your computer

The app keeps these on your computer, and doesn’t send them to us:

3. Services you connect

Tomrade talks to the following services directly from your computer, only when you set them up or use them. We don’t receive what passes between you and them, and their own privacy policies apply.

4. Why we use your information

If the EU or UK GDPR applies to you, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (your account and its services); our legitimate interest in running Tomrade securely and reliably (security logs, update checks, abuse prevention, anonymous usage statistics, website traffic totals); your consent, where we ask for it; and complying with legal obligations.

5. Who processes it for us

We use these providers to run Tomrade. They handle personal information only on our instructions:

Provider What for Where
Supabase accounts, sign-in, sync, the plugin directory, reports you send, and anonymous usage statistics Tokyo, Japan
Cloudflare the website, downloads and the update feed Cloudflare’s global network; Cloudflare is based in the United States
Resend delivering account emails United States
GitHub linking your GitHub account to publish plugins; hosting plugin source code United States

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or our rights, or to someone who takes over Tomrade, who must then keep this policy’s promises.

Because of these providers, your information is stored and processed outside Australia and outside your own country, mainly in Japan and the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as the providers’ data processing agreements and standard contractual clauses.

6. How long we keep it

7. Your choices and rights

For anything else, or if you can’t use the app, write to support@tomrade.com from your account’s email address, so we know the request is yours. We’ll answer within 30 days and won’t charge you.

If you’re unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au), or to the data protection authority where you live.

8. Security

Connections between the app or website and our services are encrypted. Each account can read only its own records, and your sign-in session and keys are encrypted on your computer. No system is perfectly secure, though. Keep your password private, protect your computer account, and tell us at support@tomrade.com if you notice anything wrong. If a breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we’ll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

9. Children

Tomrade is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, write to us and we’ll delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We’ll post any new version of this policy on this page with its date. If a change matters to you, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect and, where the law requires it, ask for your agreement again.
